The project incorporated the design and construction of a 50,000m2 warehouse and office space facility which included the provisions of ambient warehouse space, storage and racking facilities, coolhouse facilities along with associated civil and landscaping works. This distribution centre is registered for Green Star - Industrial Design v1 rating and a 4 star Green Star rating. Sustainable initiatives and design principles planned within the development included: water harvesting and recycling, energy efficiency and co-ordination within the refrigeration plant to eliminate synthetic refrigerants and the minimisation of PVC and volatile organic compounds in its construction. The project was delivered under a Design and Construct contract with Cockram engaging Jacobs Engineering Group to deliver the design component of the works. The facility was constructed as part of the Brendale Connect Industrial development precinct, on the site of the former brickworks, approximately 18 Kilometers from the Brisbane CBD.The Distribution Centre has been designed to support ALDI retail stores in the greater Brisbane area as well as stores north of Brisbane.
