The University of Melbourne’s internationally recognised Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute was expanded by 5,000m2 to house CSL’s Global Research and Translational Medicine Hub.
The new state-of-the-art facility expands major technology platforms at the University of Melbourne's Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute.
The site is located in a sensitive precinct and was bound on all sides by operating facilities.
The design and construct project is rated Green Star for Design and included PC2 laboratories. It incorporated a number of specialised construction elements including “brick snap” lined precast façade panels, a bubbledeck suspended slab system and cable supported sunshades.
