Topping Out Ceremony Marks Major Milestone at the Woollahra Collection, NSW

On Friday 16 May, Icon, together with our trusted partner Fortis, proudly marked the topping out of the Woollahra Collection, a key milestone that signifies the completion of the structural phase at this landmark project in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
The ceremony brought together project partners, consultants, trades, and community representatives to celebrate the progress of a development that is both architecturally significant and deeply respectful of its place. A traditional aboriginal ceremony led by a member of the local Aboriginal community opened the event, traditionally blessing the land in honour of the site’s location on lands of the Gadigal and Birrabirragal people, the Traditional Custodians of the area.
Speaking at the ceremony Mike Read, CEO and Managing Director of ICON, reflected on the strength of the partnership with Fortis, highlighting the alignment between both teams and their shared commitment to quality and delivery. He noted that this project marks the beginning of a long-term relationship, with more collaborations already in planning across Fortis’s pipeline of work.
Ed Eve, General Manager of Development–NSW at Fortis, also addressed the attendees, speaking to the significance of the Woollahra Collection, both for Fortis and for the suburb of Woollahra. “This is not just a milestone in construction,” he said, “but a moment that reinforces our vision for design-led development that enhances and respects its surrounds. Woollahra Collection is a very special project, one we’re incredibly proud to bring to life.”
Perfectly positioned in one of Sydney’s most tightly held suburbs, the Woollahra Collection places residents just footsteps from Queen Street’s boutiques, galleries, and eateries, with Centennial Park and Woollahra Village on the doorstep.
With construction on track, this milestone signals the next phase of delivery and the beginning of what promises to be a lasting partnership between Fortis and ICON—two teams united by a shared vision for excellence in urban living.
