Icon Represents Australia at Indo-Pacific Defence Summit
September 23, 2025
Icon is proud to have represented Australia at the 2025 Indo-Pacific Regional Summit hosted by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Held from 8–10 September, the summit brought together more than 1,200 participants including U.S. Defence leaders, federal agencies, industry partners, and international allies. The event provided an important platform to share knowledge, discuss regional priorities, and strengthen partnerships across the Indo-Pacific.
Building Australia’s Defence Capability
Icon’s NSW Construction Manager, Dave Wood, attended on behalf of the company, joining global leaders and our Kajima colleagues from Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company. Together, we explored opportunities to collaborate, share lessons learned, and showcase Icon’s proven track record delivering complex Defence projects.
With our appointment to both the Defence Australia Infrastructure Panel – Major Construction and the $990 million NAVFAC Indo-Pacific Contractor Panel, Icon is the only Australian company to achieve this milestone. These appointments unlock a significant pipeline of projects across Australia and the broader Indo-Pacific region over the next 5–8 years.
Strengthening Regional Partnerships
The summit featured keynote addresses from senior leaders including the Governor of Hawaii and the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defence for Energy, Installations & Environment. Sessions highlighted the importance of long-term collaboration in supporting critical Defence infrastructure across the Pacific.
For Icon, the event was about more than attendance. It was an opportunity to:
- Share knowledge with industry peers
- Strengthen ties with NAVFAC and Indo-Pacific partners
- Reinforce our reputation as a trusted partner for Defence delivery
A Collaborative Future
Success in Defence construction is built on collaboration, trust, and long-term partnerships. Icon is committed to working alongside our Defence clients and international allies to deliver infrastructure that strengthens communities and supports security across the region.
