Icon’s Commitment to Reconciliation

At Icon Group, we are proud of our achievements to date through our Innovate RAP journey.  Since 2017, we have been committed to Reconciliation, moving from the “Reflect” RAP into the “Innovate” RAP level. We understand that Reconciliation demands clear direction, focus, and ongoing commitment.

Throughout this journey, Icon’s commitment has included:

  • A CEO-supported working group with Executive Sponsorship.
  • Sub-committees focused on progressing (72) actions across the key RAP areas: Relationships, Respect, Opportunities, and Governance.
  • Engagement across the entire company.
  • Measurable outcomes that have been documented in a RAP Report.

Icon is dedicated to this work.  As we move forward towards achieving our organisation’s vision for reconciliation, we are currently working with Reconciliation Australia to develop our second “Innovate” level RAP.

Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

  • Commercial Builders Australia Icon Black Logo
  • Minicon Logo
  • Barpa Black logo

Our Innovate Reconciliation Plan artwork was created by proud Wurundjeri Traditional Owners and brothers Ashley Firebrace and Alex Kerr.

Alex and Ashley’s design celebrates the relationship between the four companies that make up the Icon Group; Icon, Minicon, Kajima and Barpa, where all four meeting places carefully connect with each other and lead to the centre circle of the artwork. The focal point of the artwork features a circle with gum leaves that represent the traditional owners of Melbourne – Wurundjeri. The light and dark blue rivers throughout the painting signify the Yarra River flowing through to Icon’s head office and surrounding projects.

“Creating a RAP is a significant step towards reconciliation and making a real impact on indigenous communities. What will make me even prouder is when we carry out our objectives within the RAP by building and getting indigenous businesses involved, upskilling our people and sharing our culture and practices.” –

Alex Kerr, Wurundjeri Traditional Owner
